Hammarsing L Kharhmar is a musician, entrepreneur and cultural activist from Shillong, Meghalaya. He holds a degree in Economics from St Stephen’s College (Delhi University) and a Diploma in Professional Music from Berklee College of Music, Boston (USA). He spent more than a decade in New York City working and touring as a musician before moving back to India in 2018. He is now dedicated primarily to the preservation and advancement of Khasi Indigenous culture through involvement with the Seng Khasi (one of India’s oldest Indigenous faith organisations), Da Minot (a Khasi contemporary folk band) and Rynsan Shillong (a culinary and art space that blends the traditional and the modern).
